Homes for sale in Newmarket
At any given time there is a good variety of houses for sale in Newmarket. This town has grown to over 90,000 residents, many of whom are commuters to Toronto and the GTA. The once small town of 5,000 has grown outwards in both directions from Main Street, which is the downtown core. The downtown area features older neighbourhoods with charming turn of the century homes, large lots and huge mature trees. On the outskirts of Newmarket numerous new neigbourhoods feature modern open concept living spaces with small lots.
What Draws People to Newmarket
The draw to Newmarket is it 45 minute commute to Toronto. I lays between HWY 400 and HWY 404. This allows commuters to travel down to either end of the GTA. It also has new fast transit with the Yonge Street YRT which takes commuters on several routes down into the GTA. Also, the "GO" train which goes right to downtown Toronto and the cross town transit. Newmarket manages to retain its small town feel in many areas. The older small bungalows east of Yonge and in central Newmarket invite both young families and retirees for their mature lots, charm and proximity to all the town's amenities. Popular Glenway Estates, to the west of Yonge street offers larger homes, still with mature lots and again the close proximity to the amenities. While the newer nieghbourhoods both north and south in Newmarket offer small lots but newer layouts and conveniences.
The neighbourhoods of Summerhill to the south west and Woodland Hills in the north west host a wide variety of attached and detached houses in all sizes. Many back to green spaces which are scattered throughout the town and have large walk out basements which are always popular. These areas usually have a number of homes for sale at any given time as they attract young buyers who move in and then with a growing family find their needs have changed.
In the south eastern portion of the town are the ever popular neighbourhoods of Stonehaven with its spacious homes and Wyndham with newer more open concept houses.Further north on the east side it is located Gorham and College Manor neighbourhoods.
Up Leslie Street in the north are the older areas off both London and Bristol Road. These again are mature homes with larger lots.
